Plans are coming together for a 1000-mile tour of sites important to Native American culture in Western North Carolina in July.
Since my little #BMW #CE04 only has a realistic range of ~65 miles, it's going to take some planning & ingenuity, particularly in the more remote parts of the Appalachian mountains. Also needed: places where I can charge while I eat & sleep.
If anyone has tips for the area, I'm all ears!
PS - "A Better Routeplanner" is horribly pessimistic about charging times.
@thomrstrom I'm interested in where you came across or created the list of sites to visit. Is it just from your notes, or are you pulling from sources? Would you be willing to share your list of places?
@aburtch - I just started collecting a list yesterday, so just a lot of Googling around at this point. https://www.carolana.com/Carolina/Native_Americans/home.html has been a particularly fruitful source, as well as https://www.ncpedia.org/
I've started collecting locations into a map, but have not yet included entries from the NC Highway Historical Marker database: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1OQTVkJyJxdedOzL8dKaEH1AmLA7gsPY&usp=sharing
This map was useful for trading paths, but take it with a grain of salt: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1udAU_3FxDc9seMVh8GccbInmHJM&hl=en_US&ll=42.16326412949147%2C-100.524902&z=4
Ideas welcome!
@thomrstrom Very cool. These may already be on your list, but I can recommend:
Town Creek Indian Mound
Judaculla Rock
@aburtch They are on the list, and I'm very excited to check them out!
@thomrstrom That pessimism saves your butt when you encounter broken or contended chargers, though.
