Anybody in PR/advertising in NYC and know where this Publicis dinner is taking place?

"We are also hosting a dinner in New York on Tuesday, where former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and former Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross will share insights with about 40 global CEOs."

"The Hong Kong Journalists' Association is appealing to journalists to preserve Facebook live video footage of 2019 protests after Meta said it will start deleting archived videos from its servers. There are concerns that much of the online footage of those protests, most of which is banned in the city amid an ongoing crackdown on dissent, will no longer be available to the general public."

If you’re interested in civic engagement in the mobility transition, read this new-ish paper by Viktoria Allert & Gerhard Reese. It’s all about how the car-centric system makes it difficult to fight against it & what we need to overcome it:

Creating a common social identity, belief in collective efficacy & strong in-group norms & goals are important for participation in collective action for sustainable mobility.

Since nothing makes sense anymore, let's start with numbers 3 & 3.5. 😅 I'll try to give a brief summary of the chemistry, including links and visual aids before moving onto how I think it could relate to being an activist.

Spoiler: My main takeaways are positive & encouraging.

"#3. activation energy for a chemical reaction
#3.5 enzymes as catalysts

Activation energy is the amount of energy you have to add to a system to cause a reaction to occur. (The positive change that you are trying to bring about in the world.)

Spontaneous reactions don't require this activation energy, but you usually won't observe this reaction unless you add new chemicals because everything that can react (at the present temperature) has already done so & the system is at an equilibrium.

Full disclosure: I'm not a physicist, but I do work with one. 😅 My degree is in biology, I've studied epidemiology/public health & my day job is as a microscopist.

My natural tendency as a #generalist is to think interdisciplinarily & I also feel that is where the greatest breakthroughs are going to come from. We've mined most aspects of science to the point that where additional study in a particular topic is usually in finer and finer minutiae. However, I feel that huge breakthroughs or at least new patterns of thinking can be acheived by looking at an existing problem with an eye towards knowledge learned from even seemingly unrelated areas.

Maybe @FantasticalEconomics @resl or you might have some input at how all of this might be applied towards the previously mentioned goal of a worldwide economic revolution. Until then I will keep it broader & try to get the general idea I was trying to convey out of my head & into yours. 😂

Hello my friend, yes this is the point. But my experience is, people making doom scrolling hereon masto more and more too. This make me frustrated. So I have no motivation to spend more time here again.

Almost interaction with my account. Since I've parted ways with some people who are toxic to me, it seems they avoiding my account. Solidarity looks different to me. Honestly, it's too much of a waste of my time to write good posts, research good actions and all that. How much time I've put into this, a lifetime. And that despite my real burdens. They can all do me, quite honestly.

Hundreds of people gathered to boycott Elon Musk and his involvement in the Trump administration as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is overseeing a massively disruptive effort to fire thousands of federal workers to slash government spending.'

The “Loyalty” tests have begun.

I knew it would have been my biggest problem if I’d stayed at the IRS. From a friend still working: “We got confirmation today from management. Just as we figured... keystroke logging software just like they use on IDRS, plus all MS Teams conversations, written and verbal are recorded, transcribed & checked for ‘dissent, etc.’ Isn’t that swell.” I’m loyal as hell to my country, but never to those people.
