Kernel Bob<p>For the last week or so, my Prusa MK4 has not been able to print. Prints are not sticking to the build plate. I've tried:</p><p> - different filament, PLA and PETG<br> - cleaning plate with soap and water<br> - cleaning with 70% and 99% isopropyl<br> - different build plate<br> - cleaning hobbed gear with toothpick<br> - poking at nozzle with acupuncture needle<br> <br>This morning I took the Nextruder apart and put it back together. Testing now.</p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://techhub.social/@3dprinting" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>3dprinting</span></a></span> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Prusa3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa3D</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>

Alec Perkins<p>Not really practical as a sellable product (too expensive yet flimsy) but a fun test in just how big the XL can print <a href="https://perkins.pub/tags/Prusa3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa3D</span></a> <a href="https://perkins.pub/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>
Alec Perkins<p>It’s alive! <a href="https://perkins.pub/tags/Prusa3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa3D</span></a></p>
Alec Perkins<p>Something obvious in hindsight about its assembly is that the XL gets significantly heavier after every chapter, and that much harder to manipulate. I’m now wishing I had moved the workbench to the middle of the room so I could just walk around it. A bit different than the MK4 (much more metal) but the process has still been fairly smooth! <a href="https://perkins.pub/tags/Prusa3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa3D</span></a></p>
Alec Perkins<p>My weekend just arrived <a href="https://perkins.pub/tags/Prusa3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa3D</span></a></p>
Alec Perkins<p>I really appreciate the effort Prusa puts in to making it possible to upgrade a relatively old printer (going on 6 years now) all the way to the latest and greatest. Of course, the only things still original at this point are the metal frame, heatbed, and some of the rods. The PSU, electronics, motors, printed parts, and bearings are all new. I wonder what I can do with the old parts. Is there a good marketplace for <a href="https://perkins.pub/tags/Prusa3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa3D</span></a> spares?</p>
Alec Perkins<p>“8 hours” turned out to be a bit of an underestimate for the MK4 upgrade assembly. This upgrade ended up being pretty much a full disassembly of the MK3S, especially one that started as an early MK3 and needed further updating. The whole process took about 12 hours. Worthwhile for the familiarity with the machine, but oof it’s a long day. <a href="https://perkins.pub/tags/Prusa3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa3D</span></a></p>

Alec Perkins<p>I forgot the MK4 upgrade kit needs you to self-print some parts, so this gnarly clog needed clearing anyway. I had hoped to be lazy about that. <a href="https://perkins.pub/tags/Prusa3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa3D</span></a></p>
