Pete Anderson 🚲Pretty annoyed that the NCC is reducing the number of hours the Kitigan Zībī Mikan will be open for people outside of cars this summer. Afternoon rides to Remic Rapids with my eldest were a highlight of last summer. Now it will be given over to drivers at noon.The MUPs are overcapacity during the warm months, this will increase conflict between people walking, running and biking. In Ottawa if you have a hitch mounted bike rack on your car without bikes on it there is a $300 fine and if someone runs into it you are responsible for the damage to their vehicle.

It’s Gabe 🚴‍♂️🚲🚵When you look at the polls and affordability now being wayyyy higher on the list of priorities over climate change for example; I’d argue most of the cost of living bitching comes from households who own cottages, 2-3 cars, have snowmobiles and 5-wheel trailers. It’s Gabe 🚴‍♂️🚲🚵Honestly at this point I’d rather replace the chain and cassette every year than deal with the Enviolo bullshit. Yes having a gear system like that is very handy for transportation uses. Roll up to a light in too high a gear? Yes being able to shift at a standstill is a great feature. But it’s also possible to easily change your riding and gear changing behaviours. I’ve also snapped a no-maintenance Gates Carbon Belt which costs over $200 a pop. It’s Gabe 🚴‍♂️🚲🚵I’m unsure I’d recommend anyone getting an electric cargo bike with Enviolo gears if you want to ride in <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ottawa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ottawa</a> year round. Last winter was warm and had no issues. This year? I’ve spent probably $800 bucks replacing cables, cable-housings, and other parts plus labour. Scooteretti did an overhaul replacing other parts that were past due and a Bosch motor check and unless it’s warmer than -10°C you better hope your gear is low enough.
