Thousand Oaks Acorn: Measles doesn’t have to be a full-blown crisis
"...It’s hard to believe that more than 60 years after the measles vaccine was created, public health officials must remind families to get their kids inoculated or face the consequences.

MOUNTAIN FIRE BURN AREA
The Mountain Fire coordination group met this morning to review the latest forecast models, which are favoring hourly rainfall rates below the UGSG debris flow threshold of 0.60 inches/hour. A consensus was reached through coordination with Ventura County Sheriff, Ventura County Fire, Ventura County Public Works, County Executive Office and City of Camarillo to issue a Winter Weather Advisory to residents within the Mountain Fire burn area. (Update: now hearing delay until tomorrow night) Sonic boom expected in Santa Barbara and Ventura County at 8:10pm. NASA payload, at least, so not adding to the usual low earth orbit trash swarm. #SonicBoom #VenturaCounty #SantaBarbara #rocket #launch
It's sunny and warm and nice outside today. Maybe I will go bicycle someplace at lunch.
(that said, the NWS says.. rain likely for the rest of the week)
No reports of damage on the police/fire scanner. Returning to the disaster I was working on (giant glob of jelly dropped earlier today in a Daylight Savings Time induced haze, which I stepped on in socks and didn't nice until now... And now I need to figure out where I tracked all the jelly. ) #VenturaCounty #earthquake
Earthquake! #VenturaCounty
NWS LOX forecast for rain in the LA area, bright blue skies outside... thinking the precipitation chances today have dropped since that forecast. Mass of clouds offshore. HRRR says it only rains out at sea and snow in the mountains, and maybe a sprinkle in Ventura, but dry in the Conejo Valley. :-( #CAwx #VenturaCounty
Raining in Ventura County for the last few hours. Gentle rain. #CAwx #rain #VenturaCounty
Congratulations to Deputy Myron Bennett III and Paramedic/Firefighter Victor Low, honored by Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge in its annual Law Enforcement and Firefighter Recognition ceremony. We live in one of the safest communities in the nation thanks to the dedication of first responders like these.
It was a privilege to join Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and colleagues Al Adam and Tie Gutierrez, along with representatives from Congresswoman Julia Brownley, Senator Henry Stern, and Ventura County Supervisor Jeff Gorell, in presenting commendations for extraordinary public service.
