It's important for a tiling window manager to be expressive enough to handle applications which don't always follow established development practices

For example, #Blender gives every single popup window the same class as its main window - this is not a good practice, but it we should still be able to find a workaround

With komorebi, we get around this by using a composite rule to float every blender.exe window which does not include "- Blender" in the title

Is it the prettiest solution? Not really

But ultimately, it works, it is reliable, and it enables users to achieve their goals

1: Idee

Die Idee, die Module als Überdachung zu nutzen, kam spontan, weil die Anschlüsse am Dach für mein Setup nicht passten.

Für die Skizzen habe ich #Excalidraw, #Blender, #FreeCAD verwendet und #Nextcloud für die Planung.

Die ersten Diskussionen zu Design, Größe und Material kamen schnell. Eine gute Skizze war dabei hilfreich.

Besonders geholfen hat mir das viele Kommunizieren und das Feedback erfahrener Leute, u. a. hier auf Mastodon!

I miss Fusion 360. Are there any open source 3D CAD programs with decent UI?

Last time we tried FreeCAD was several years ago, but it was HORRENDOUSLY confusing. Ye gods, SO MANY TOOLBARS. Even Blender wasn't that bad.

Maybe it's better now, I don't know. Or maybe there's something else?

We know and love Blender, but I really like Fusion 360's "tweakable stack of edits to the object" model, and while Blender HAS modifiers, they're not really designed for modeling from the ground up that way.

#blender suggestion needed: do you know any good plugin (even paid) to have a *better* "Shape Keys" UI ?
I would ideally want something with filtering and color/indication wether a shape key is changed because it's painful to find modified ones when you have a shitload of them :(

(Shape Keys+ does filtering and some other things but no color thing, and is pretty outdated now and super slow with a bunch of SKs)

I don't know if anyone else has been struggling to make a realistic eye with #Blender 's #EeveeNext. But if You're seeing the your environment where the iris should be you need to play with the thickness output in the shader. The eye here has a radius of 1m and the Iris didn't start appearing until I set the thickness under 0.4. I have it set to 0.05 right here as it seems to mess with the "focal length" of the eyes lens as well so I chose what felt like a sweet spot. Anyways, you're welcome.

Experimenting with Doors.
Mark edge as "crease". In Geo nodes, Mesh-to-point (Edge). Instance "door" on Point. Rotate to Euler (Sample Nearest Surface - Normal of Wall).

But Normal isn't as straight as I'd like.
Somehow clamp it to nearest 90' ? How to do the thing?
