Reasons why I don't talk about politics on social media:

a) you don't need to read my dumb thoughts about politics
b) I don't want to read your replies to my dumb thoughts about politics either

Most importantly

c) Cdrama actors are way more fun to talk about

Ps I get to see the gorgeous Liu Xueyi on TV soon. My brain only has space to process this anyway

Legit my favourite character and actor in Si Jin right now. He's carrying the entire show on his little furry shoulders, I swear.

I thought I'd like #SiJin right off the bat for Zhang Wanyi reasons, but alas, the first episode was a mess because the editing was a mess and the writers or director thought it wasn't necessary to establish our characters in the first episode. Instead, we were shown a cascade of events that made our heads spin. We weren't given any anchor to really care for the characters.

I think if it was set up like Blossom, whose writers lovingly set up our characters in such a way that we're invested in their second lives, I would've been kinder.

I'll give it a few more episodes...but I'm having trouble focusing lol

Before #Xianxia got popular in the West be cause of dramas like Till the End of the Moon and Love Between Fairy and Devil, we watched these types of xianxias, which are based on Chinese mythology. This is 八仙过海 "Eight Immortals Cross the Sea".
Back then, xianxia was about immortals saving the world, not about them falling in love 😉.

I work in #tech and I think fellow tech workers can agree with me that things are a tad rocky right now and it isn't gentle on your nerves. That's why I am so glad I have my lescape in #Cdramas.

I am glad for streaming tech despite the whole "you will not own this and be happy thing" because it made them so much more accessible. I've been watching #Cdrama since the 1980s but could only rely on what I could get my hands on. Although Malaysia had access to Chinese dramas, it was mostly in Cantonese and since I can't understand it nor read the Chinese subs I can't watch them properly.

I even bought DVDs when I visited China for work! Or through, er, fandom efforts if you know what I mean. I even became a fansubber for a while. Now I have endless access to Cdramas when they were so hard to get before. 😛 Myandarin has also improved by leaps and bounds thanks to listening to it all day haha

I've seen up to episode 24 of Love of the Divine Tree. Let me just say that Deng Wei is challenging Cheng Yi's position as "blood spitter expert". Also, I really dislike our heroine's Hogwarts era and there's so many things that got on my nerves but ... I still can't wait for the next episode. Weird?

Drama Tea · Love of the Divine Tree – mid review
More from Drama Tea

Not only do we have to worry that our favorite Cdrama actors pay their taxes properly, we have to also worry they don't commit crimes and go to jail 😆🤪

Because the entire drama will be affected by one actor, no matter how insignificant. It's not due to censorship only, by the way, but the harsh public opinion of Chinese folks 🤪. It's all about "face", basically!

The drama in peril due to Li Mingde's nonsense: Legend of the Female General.

How many times are we going to make Su Yishui throw up blood?

Writers: YESSSS

Ok, regular blood spitting aside, I'm enjoying #LoveOftheDivineTree, but there are some flaws. Sometimes the dubbing quality drops for some characters (very weird), and then there's this annoying plot device where some characters just tells you what's going on. People don't really talk like this lol.
But hey, the drama is carried by our two main leads who are quite good, especially the one playing Mu Qingge. She's a natural, being able to play seductive and powerful, and innocent and ditzy effortlessly. A rare talent, even better than the traffic actors with bajilion views.
