#fix

Well electric cars, hell, cars in general these days come with proprietary software that totally screws over the buyer's ability to fix their own damn car. It's bullshit, plain and simple.

Right to repair isn't just some fancy slogan, it's a fucking right. Period. I'm all in on open source software and the freedom to dig into the code, learn from it, and yeah, fix it if I need to. That's how it should be, not this locked-down crap they're pushing on us.

Sadly, this is the world most people are forced into with big tech companies owning and operating most of the software we and many companies use today.

I would recommend anyone reading this to give #Linux a try if you haven't already used it. It's open-source, customizable, and gives you the freedom to really make your system your own.

❤ In short: I love the right to repair my own tech!

I would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thanks to the unknown person who, at least 30 years ago, applied anti-seize to the mounting threads of the plate on my pottery wheel. It unscrewed without too much hngg at all.

Now to work on resurfacing the top. It's very pitted and rough.

The Nazi rally historical re-enactment Sunday was truly #loathsome. Lots of people have pointed out the parts that need pointing out.

However, one bit in particular stood out to me: "Tr*mp Will Fix It".

He'll *fix* it? Are these people even vaguely aware of his interests and inclinations?

If he can't eat it, f*ck it, or skim a buck off the top of it, then it may as well not exist in his universe.

He's not fixing anything, ever.

Kitten¹ update

Just fixed a regression² that had broken the initial secret generation on new Kitten projects.

In terminal, please run:

```
kitten update
```

¹ codeberg.org/kitten/app

² I introduced the regression when I added the `HX-Trigger-Event` header to Kitten’s fork of htmx. This header lets you differentiate what triggered a server-side event handler when there can be more than one event that does – eg., keyup and change, etc.

Codeberg.orgappA web development kit that’s small, purrs, and loves you.

Managed to #repair an annoying rattle in my old #Aeropex (a common problem with the older models apparently) using a small hand-drill & some #Sugru, prolonging their life & saving them from becoming #ewaste. Sound & microphone are working fine after the #fix & I'm feeling proud of having saved myself approx. €130 (the difference between the cost of the repair kit vs a new pair of headphones).

And to anyone reading, remember the context - Google's #profits are tens of billions of dollars per *quarter*.

If they wanted to fix *any* of this, they could do it in a heartbeat. Assign one small team of #product & #engineering people to fix these issues, and the cost of doing so would be less than you'd find under the couch cushions in the executive break room. And they would get fixed.

They could #fix their brutal #search, too. Look what #SearXNG *volunteers* have done.

It was easier to locate the individuals in their private houses.

“We were not interested in killing operatives only when they were in a military building or engaged in a military activity. On the contrary, the IDF bombed them in homes without hesitation, as a first option. It’s much easier to bomb a family’s home. The system is built to look for them in these situations.”

“Levy describes a system that has almost reached perfection. The political echelon wants to maintain the status quo, and the military provides it with legitimacy in exchange for funds and status.”

“Levy points out the gradual withdrawal of the old Ashkenazi middle class from the ranks of the combat forces[…]:
• the military’s complete reliance on technology as a decisive factor in warfare;
• the adoption of the concept […] of an army that is “small and lethal”;
• the obsession with the idea of #deterrence, which is supposed to negate the other side’s will to fight; and
• the complete addiction to the status quo as the only possible and desirable state of affairs.”
