What a beautiful short we watched today in #Hindi class. It nearly made me cry.
Completely wordless (we used it for me to describe things I see and to talk about the short itself) so anyone anywhere will understand it.
Today, March 15, in 1972, the town of Dimmsdale gathers to celebrate Denzel Crocker Day in honor of the most helpful, least selfish, grooviest, and most far-out kid (Fairly Oddparents, s03e21, “The Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker!”, 2001)

Director Gints Zilbalodis shared a new video of the Flow cat with his Oscar
...and here it is. I've completely ditched Meta and am now on a journey to de-Google my life as well. I feel so relieved!!! The online environment there was just too toxic. It's challenging to avoid all billionaire big tech companies, but I'm glad I chose Mastodon (and Cara) over the alternatives. Next on my list: deleting my PayPal account and updating my email across all the forums I'm part of.

I've been dipping my toes into animation recently. So many frames and layers for just a short clip! Here is the fruit of my last few days of labour. My gift to you

How can you incorporate 3D printing in stop-motion animation? Directors Jack Cunningham and Nicolas Ménard try the technique out in a trio of short films.

One thing I love to do after the Oscars is to watch all the best animated feature film nominees. The winner, Flow, has gotten lots of positive attention for it’s low budget et being made with open source software, but my personal pic for best movie would have been “Memoir of a Snail”. This movie completely fell under my radar before which is surprising because I love this kind of stop motion aesthetic. (I still didn’t watch the Wallace and Gromit movie though) #animation #oscars #movies #cinema
In December, Disney cut a trans character from its "Win or Lose" TV show, with the explanation: "We recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline." Now the series is out, and it has a Christian character — the first in a Disney-related project in about 20 years. The studio has also changed its plans on a series based on "The Princess and the Frog," the first Black Disney princess, deciding instead to produce a special based on the title. @Vox asks if all this means Disney is entering a new conservative era. Story may be paywalled.
There are animated features for children which rise above genre to become moving and insightful works of art.
"Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken" was NOT one of these.
Themes: saccharin & cliched.
Plot: paint-by-numbers
Dialog: burdened with terrible exposition
Sub-text: kind of fascist, when I think about it.
It was undoubtedly pitched as "Wicked meets The Little Mermaid".
But the animation of undulating glowing sea creature characters was good.

Just came across an animatic for the pilot of “Pretty Pretty Please I Don’t Want to be a Magical Girl” and I’m all in for it. The humor and trope flipping is sharp! #Indie #Animation has been growing strong over the past decade, and it’s glorious. @kianamai.bsky.social #YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf7bsmT-Jn0 http://kianamai.bsky.social
