Rounding third on a historically accurate corset (not for me) and feeling amused by how many materials I had to go to a hardware store to get.

#introduction while trying to learn the new environment: I'm from #Finland , I intend to have this account to be kind of light-hearted and post about my hobbies and interests including everything cute, #sewing #knitting and #crafts in general, #AltFashion, usually at least inspired by Japanese alt fashion. I also do #reenactment of the Viking period and #HEMA (historical European martial arts) related to said time period.
My #cat is the cutest one there is so there will be #CatPics included.
I would love to find fellow #ProjectSekai and #EnsembleStars players! 敬礼!
There might also be some #politics included but it's not the main scope of this account. You can still expect general #AntiCapitalist and #Leftist views from me.
That's probably long enough lol
I want to sew a #medieval / #viking skjoldehamn hood (https://handcraftedhistory.blog/2024/01/30/skjoldehamn-hood-tutorial/ ) probably with a lining. but I can't decide which fabrics to use. please help. All these are 100% non felted wool.
The blue fabric is a herringbone with a lighter and darker blue and probably the thickest fabric. It is also probably the biggest piece (140cm x 140cm)
@histodons Wrote a chapter Thinking About Teaching on #reenactment edumatch-publishing.myshopify.com
With the #drought, will Washington cross the Delaware this year?
“Night, sleet, snow, winds and freezing temperatures couldn’t keep the Continental Army from crossing the Delaware River on Christmas night 1776. But the drought of 2024 may keep volunteers from reenacting the famous and popular event.”
After some thought I've decided that, even though I like to be helpful, I'm not going to get an obscure 1971 journal issue out of the library stacks and scan an article for a reenactor who shares racist memes. Even though he asked politely.

Going to buy a copy for the paleontology/astronomy geek with a sense of humor we know.
Happy and proud that my article "Playing King Alfred: Historical reenactment and cosplay of Alfred the Great" was published in Transformative Works and Cultures.
